State of Play Privacy Policy

State of Play (“us”, “we”, or “our”), owned by Slate Advisory Pty Ltd ABN 21 647 902 261, operates the www.stateofplay.org website (hereinafter referred to as the “Service”).

This privacy policy sets out how State of Play uses and protects any information that it collects or which is already in its possession.

Definitions

Service. Service is the www.stateofplay.org website.

We may use your Personal Data to contact you with newsletters, surveys, survey results and reports, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or the instructions provided in any email we send.

Usage Data

Usage Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Usage Data are logged for security purposes to detect suspicious logins and to assist the technical support team to resolve errors. No personally identifiable information is logged. We will use third parties, namely AWS, Auth0 and Sentry, to capture this information. These parties have respective privacy policies and do not resell or use this data.

Tracking Cookies Data

Cookies are files with a small amount of data which many include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device.

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. We use cookies for security purposes only, to manage user authentication.

Use of Data

State of Play uses the collected data for various purposes:

  • To enable you to access and use our Site, associated applications and associated media platforms;
  • To contact and communicate with you;
  • For internal record keeping and administrative purposes;
  • For analytics, market research and business development, including to operate and improve
    our Service, associated applications and associated social media platforms;
  • For advertising and marketing, including to send you information about our products and
    services that we consider may be of interest to you; and
  • To comply with our legal obligations and resolve any disputes that we may have.
Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), State of Play’s legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described in this Privacy Policy depends on the Personal Data we collect and the specific context in which we collect it.
State of Play may process your Personal Data because:

  • We need to provide a product or service to you or you have agreed to participate in a State of Play online survey
  • You have given us permission to do so
  • The processing is in our legitimate interests and it is not overridden by your rights
  • For payment processing purposes
  • To comply with the law
Retention of Data

State of Play will retain your Personal Data only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

State of Play will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer periods.

Under certain circumstances, State of Play may be required to disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency). If allowed to by law, State of Play will advise you that we have been requested to disclose your Personal Data.

State of Play may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service (“Service Providers”), provide the Service on our behalf, perform Service-related services or assist us in analysing how our Service is used.

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyse the use of our Service.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualise and personalise the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt out of having your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

Payments

We may provide paid products and/or services within the Service. In that case, we use third-party services for payment processing (e.g. payment processors).

We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information.
